ARTICLE 7 - CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY – The Playing Rules and Code of organization affiliated by GHYSA shall take precedence over GHYSA Code and Rules during Championship Play.

 7.01     AGE QUALIFICATION - The playing age cannot exceed age qualification of the organization affiliated by GHYSA during the current playing year.

7.02          ROSTERS.

  1. The Championship Roster of the organization affiliated by GHYSA will be furnished by your Deputy Commissioner and shall be the only roster used for Championship play. 
  2. Rosters for class A/B must be turned in for inspection at the Championship Draw and will be returned to the team.  Rosters will be certified one hour prior to first game in the Championship Tournament.
  3. Rosters for class C must be turned in for inspection at the Championship Draw and will be returned to the team.  Rosters will be certified one hour prior to first game in the Championship Tournament.
  4. Class A/B and Gold teams participating in National Qualifiers or Gold Qualifying Tournaments will contact their Deputy Commissioner to have their roster certified prior to the tournament. 
  5. All Class A/B and Gold teams must have a National Tournament Entry form completed by the Commissioner prior to participating in National Qualifiers or Gold Qualifying Tournaments except when the tournament is being hosted by GHYSA.
  6. Completion of rosters.

1.      Roster shall be completed with the following information included on the heading: Year, Team Name, City, State, Division and Classification of Championship Play. (example Girls Fast Pitch 18 & Under Class A or Girls FP 18 - A)

2.      TEAM MANAGER'S AFFIDAVIT on the roster shall be completed in its entirety.

3.      Roster to be submitted to the appropriate Deputy Commissioner for certification.

4.      Photo ID per GHYSA and by the organization affiliated by GHYSA will be turned in for inspection with the Championship Roster at the time of certification in the order as the players’ names appear on the roster.

5.      If a player's name on the roster is different than the name on the birth certificate or player ID, they must provide the proper court documents indicating the name change.

6.      The championship roster form must be signed by the player and/or his/her guardian after January 1st of the current year.  Player 18 years of age can sign the roster without parent/guardian signature.  Any roster that has been completed prior to January 1st will be void.

7.03           PICK-UP PLAYERS. The pick-up player’s rules must comply with rules of the organization affiliated by GHYSA during the current playing year.

7.05 - COACH CERTIFICATION

A.    All GHYSA teams that enter championship tournament play will be required to have a certified coach on the field any time the team is participating in Championship play (recommended that teams have 2 coaches certified).  

B.   GHYSA leagues/associations are required to establish and maintain a coach certification program, which is subject to approval by GHYSA.

C.  Any person that is on the field during practice or games assisting in the training or coaching process will be required to have a current background check preformed each year.  Each League/Association will certify that background checks have been performed prior to championship play each year.
